They always end up skyrocketing to $2,000 or above. Rarely is it any price less than that. You might as well as buy the Dell desktop PC for that kind of cash.

Find a retailer with a waiting list (either online or in-store) and get in line, as long as you don't need to pre-pay. This is your "safety plan" in case you're not able to purchase directly, so try to get yourself waitlisted only if the price is low to reasonable. Some stores may increase the price by the time the list gets to you, however.

It depends where you live and which card you are looking to get. I managed to get an EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra last week. I went to the store to back order it on the Wednesday and received an email to pick it up on the Friday.
