I'm looking to build a retro XM177 / CAR 15 (with compliant barrel/brake). How do you pin the stock to keep it from collapsing and be NJ compliant?

Since there are NO specific guidelines about pinning a stock, one or two blind role pins through the stock and the lower buffer tube extension should suffice. Additionally the manufacturers inactivate the adjustment lever by tapping the adjustment hole and inserting an allen head cap screw which may or may not be necessary.

If you are overly paranoid an alternative meathod is to make a drilled hole between the stock and the buffer where the adjustments go and you can rivet the stock to pin it. You need a rivet gun for this and a rivet that is long enough. Or you can do what was mentioned above with the roll pin.

There are problably many different ways to make a stock not be able to collapse any longer. My interpretation is that the spirit of the law is looking for a stock that will not be able to be adjusted with your bare hands, or novel tools very easily.
