If the tangs on the Model 336 are longer than the Model 1936, then you would have to remove wood from the stock in the tang area, and a new hole drilled for the tang screw. Why not go to Numrich Gun Parts and order a stock from them? Or, watch eBay as there are correct stocks for sale there all the time.

336 SC Stock Help Needed
Hi all, I am a new member to MFCA and I am having a problem finding a stock for my 1949 336 SC. I bought a 336 stock but while it will go on the gun, I believe it is called the the trigger guard plate, sticks out well below the stock. This stock fits neatly on my other Marlins so I am assuming that there is something different about the SC stock.
Re: 336 SC Stock Help Needed
There's no difference in the SC stock. But it's rare for any Marlin stock to fit perfectly since each gun and stock were individually fitted when they built them new at the factory. It may be that your particular SC took less working down to get the action, tangs, etc.
Re: 336 SC Stock Help Needed
I am very grateful for you response but I am finding it hard to believe. I mean not disrespect but I am finding a .25 inch difference in the measurement from the trigger guard plate to the receiver where the stock attaches. This is only on the 1949 SC. It is the only SC that I own right now. My other 336s all fit the stocks nicely.

How do I remove my 336 Forend ?
I am not real familiar at how these 336's forend's come off, so this morning I removed the screw through the band close to the end of it, and tried to Pull the forend straight forward out of the reciever, but it did not Budge.
Re: How do I remove my 336 Forend ?
On the carbine version shown you need to remove the front sight assembly, both bands, and then the forearm wood and mag tube will all slide forward together. Once clear you can separate the pieces. Be sure not to let the mag tube follower fly away!
