The fizz goes flat
Before the Pepsi deal was announced, SodaStream stock had gained 120% over the past year, as the soda maker has become one of the best under-the-radar stocks on the market.
Alternative to Bubly?
So they are getting rid of the fruit flavors. Anyone have an alternative? I'm not paying for the Bubly drops under like any circumstance... They are pure water and unless you are sitting there using the lightest touch and paying super close attention you end up pouring a ridiculous amount in, and thus run out way WAY faster.
Natural flavorings?
I'd love to get a list going of everyone's favorite natural flavorings. By natural, I guess I mean that it doesn't come in a bottle marketed for soda flavors. I'll start...I have a mint bush that is slowly taking over the garden. I love to let those mint leaves soak inside a pitcher of water for some nice bubbly mint water. What else you got?
Has anyone bought liquid caffeine in order to make their own sugar free energy drink syrups?
I could make some serious gourmet sugar free and fruit based energy drink syrups from my garden this summer if I invested in some liquid caffeine. Anything from lavender to watermelon to experimental ones like rhubarb.
Any one-piece bottles?
I’ve got a very basic Fountain model, and bought a few extra standard 1L bottles. It’s very gross and really annoying how much grime collects inside the plastic base (no matter how many times the bottle goes through the dishwasher— the inside is clean but I can see the gunk forming.

Are the tank adaptors worth it?
I've had a Sodastream Jet for a year and a half, and I've been using it more often recently since I learned how to make my own syrups with snow cone concentrate. I use it a lot more in the spring/summer months too.
The Cost of SodaStream
The premise is simple: Fill the plastic bottle with water, secure it onto the SodaStream, push the button a few times, and it’s ready to drink. You can add flavoring if you wish, though I never have.
Is SodaStream Cheaper Than Buying Cans?
As a fairly thrifty person, I’ve never been the type to buy full-price cans of name brand sparkling water from the grocery store. Rather, I used my Costco membership to my advantage to test out the different sparkling waters they sell and see which one offers the best taste for the best price.
Other Considerations
From a pure cost perspective, there’s not much difference between buying a generic brand like Costco’s or using a SodaStream. Of course, if you can make your SodaStream last several years, you’ll only pay for the canisters, which reduces your cost to $260 per year — a full $100 less than a year’s supply of Kirkland Signature sparkling water.
Making the Choice
For me, it came down to convenience. As a full-time working mother of two young and highly energetic kids, I found it hard to be able to replace my CO2 canister right after it ran out, and would end up waiting a few days or even a week before I had time to get to Target for a replacement.
