What makes the hyperboom so special?

In classic UE style, the HYPERBOOM is rocking the giant + and – sign volume controls which are touch-sensitive. UE included an optical input, which is a genius move.

Does the UE hyperboom turn off when you leave the House?

If you’re using the UE Hyperboom as a home speaker, you don’t need to worry about powering it off every time you leave the house. The Hyperboom automatically shuts off after 15 minutes of inactivity. Unfortunately, when you come home, you will have to either manually turn on the speaker or press the play button to access One-Touch Music Control.

Is the hyperboom waterproof?

The Hyperboom has an IPX4 rating. We mention that because much of the marketing for the speaker focuses on it being spill-proof, and while the chances are that a spilled glass of water or some heavy raindrops here or there aren't going to be an issue, it's worth noting that IPX4 means real water pressure could cause trouble.

Is Ultimate Ears Hyperboom stereo?

While it has multiple drivers, the Hyperboom does have its sound limitations; it can't quite escape sounding like a single speaker. If you want to take it to the next level, you can pair two of these guys and get real stereo sound (they do sound quite good paired together but that will set you back $800).

The Hyperboom measures 190 x 190 x 364mm (WDH) and weighs 5.9kg. Despite that heft, it's portable thanks to a pull-out carrying strap on the side and is also IPX4 water-resistant, meaning it's splashproof and capable of withstanding a spilt drink or light rain.
