Firstly, installing the hand guard isn’t quite as easy as some other hand guards I have played with. The reason I believe, is due to the tight tolerances that the hand guard exhibits as well as the heat shielding. Introduction
The highly compact Magpul MOE SL-K is smallest and lightest of the company’s AR-pattern butt stocks.
Layout
Compared with the CTR, the cheek weld of the SL-K is subtly improved – in line with Magpul’s modern generation of stocks. It’s not a huge shelf like the ACS, but there’s enough there to change the feel for the better. It’s just the right balance, aiming squarely between overt and minimal.
Is There Any Wobble?
Lack of a separate CTR-like locking mechanism may make some users shudder. Doesn’t the stock rattle? That will depend partly on how well the user’s receiver extension fits the stock’s inner diameter.
Conclusion
Utilising uncomplicated construction and requiring fewer materials, on paper it’s easy to see why the SL-K costs significantly less than the CTR. That said, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s any less well designed than it’s forebears (like the CTR) or siblings (like the SL).

I like hand-guards on the smaller/thinner side. Never liked the old A1/A2 guards on my issue weapons (it was a long time ago ), the latest ("round") styles, including the fully railed or MOE... to big for my liking. Was holding out for a MI G2 SS... along with requisite LP gas block & front sight.

If you want a slim handguard, the MI Keymod, or M-LOKs are hard to beat.

While I Want to go with a Full-float handguard, the other things (LP gas block, new front sight, etc) adds even more cost & time to the mix.

I'd thought of just hacking the FSB down, but was under the impression that it had to come off for FF installation... no?
