Investors in new IPO and vacation rental website Airbnb ( NASDAQ:ABNB) have had a rough week so far, as their shares continued to tumble from a post-IPO high of $165 hit last week, finally ending below $125 last night. But the morning dawned bright today.
So what
Why is Airbnb up? Well, the macroeconomic news today is broadly positive, with coronavirus vaccines continuing to roll out across the country, the FDA approving a $30 at-home test for COVID-19, and Congressional leaders reportedly getting close to approving a $900 billion stimulus package that will reportedly include a second round of stimulus checks being mailed out to taxpayers..

All of this, of course, has investors feeling optimistic about Airbnb, and as StreetInsider.com reports today, traders in particular are buying call options on the stock at 2.4 times the rate they're buying puts.

Airbnb (NASDAQ: ABNB) shareholders beat the market this week, as their stock rose 10% through trading on Thursday, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence, compared to a 0.9% decline in the S&P 500.
So what
The company announced on Tuesday that revenue jumped 59% in the selling period that ended in late December as the world continued emerging from the pandemic that had depressed travel for more than a year. Airbnb nearly fully recovered from the COVID-19 slump, too, with bookings landing just 3% below the same time in late 2019.
Now what
Investors are even more excited about Airbnb's potential as the pandemic ends. There is strong demand for remote work setups, which are freeing many people to stay in places far from their offices. The company is seeing some of its best growth in long stays that last a month or more.
