It will overwrite existing grub, you have to skip grub instalation and configure menu.lst manually.

I have taken a different path. I installed Android-x86 inside a VirtualBox.org virtual machine. That laptop is a Windows 8.1. It works just fine. I have a Google account that allows me to do a data-backup of the Android-x86 setup. Since I'm using Chrome & Youtube as well all my tabs, history, and other apps data are synchronized as well.

They should be under EFI partition, or under partition where is your os installed.

The really good news is that you may learn enough to write your own GRUB setup manually . Which's exciting. BTW is this a class assignment. GRUB can boot any configuration of hypervisors and OSs. Oher utilities are used in the Cloud.
