Right at the outset, you have to understand that this was not just an ordinary earnings miss in the classical sense - I think it was a "litmus test" for institutional investors who needed to know that the risk they were taking could be justified by financials.
The same old problems..
Even before the report was released, BABA became a "falling-knife stock" for many because it is illogical for the company to grow so fast and be so cheap. Few retail investors properly assess the risks of investing in Chinese big techs. They prefer to be aware of the risks but ignore them and justify themselves with "higher return opportunities".
