From Richwood travel one mile east on State Route 39/55, then 6 1/2 miles north on Forest Road 76. Campsites are numbered 6-19 and dispersed along Forest Road 76.
Activities
Camping is only permitted in "numbered" sites along the river corridor. Each site has a picnic table, lantern post, and trash can. No water or electric is available. There are two accessible vault toilets along this 5-mile corridor with one toilet located across from site #7 and one toilet located near sites #15-19 at Aldridge Branch.

Camping & Cabins
Campground features 28 single campsites and two double sites in two loops. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, lantern post and gravel parking spur. There are two hand-pumps and three accessible vault toilets. There is no electricity available but the use of generators is permitted from 6 am until 10 pm.

At one time the river contained so much acid that warm water species couldn’t survive there.There are sixteen miles of back country river including the North and South Forks of the Cranberry River. There are overnight shelters along the river for anglers to spend the night.
Is the lower section of the river wider?
The lower section is also much wider but the makeup is about the same. There are some pools where the water is smooth and the trout are very spooky, but for the most part the stream is broken up with riffles. The best way to fish the river is in an upstream direction.
