You split stock to increase peoples interest to buy stock at a lower price. This in turn generates revenue. Publix is in no need of revenue. Also, you can purchase a portion of stock so there is no purpose or reason for a stock split. Not saying it wont happen, just saying its not probable. What I would like to see is higher dividend pay outs.
