Heads up: the Switch OLED is back in stock at Amazon. Note that the in-stock model is the one with white Joy-Cons, as the red & blue model is still sold out. While this latest edition of the Switch hardware hasn't been as difficult to get hold of as, say, finding a PS5, it's still out of stock more often than in.

The Switch OLED isn't a massive step up from the standard Switch model, but its upgrades are definitely noticeable if you play in handheld mode. In fact, I wouldn't recommend buying this to anyone who doesn't regularly play in handheld mode, because you just won't see the improvements.

Switch OLED vs. original Switch: What's different?

While there had been rumors of a new Switch Pro console with 4K visuals and major performance upgrades, that's not what we got with the Switch OLED. This new Nintendo Switch has a slightly larger 7-inch OLED display that delivers the same 720p resolution when not in its cradle and 1080p visuals when connected to your TV.
