Today, club heads are similarly weighted. However, graphite shafts can vary from 60 grams to 125g, steel goes to 134g. All depends on how much you want to spend. PXG has some lite setups.

Thanks for the responses. I should have mentioned that I don’t have a huge budget. I currently have Wilson ci11 irons. Bought circa 2012 I think. They’re fitted with stiff shafts, 1.5in longer as I’m 6’3”. I don’t know any more about the shafts, they’re stickerless and I don’t have the specs any more.

I have the new Wilson D9's with regular flex Tensei shafts. Can't get much lighter than those I wouldn't think.

Couldn't find the stock shaft for that particular model but the "C" series did tend to have lighter weight steel shafts.

Have posted in another forum about golf ending thumb condition without any useful results so now trying to see if I can find a very lightweight iron set where I can still feel the head during the swing.

There are two different aspects to weight when it comes to clubs that are independently controlled but coupled when it comes to feel. The total static weight (which is largely controlled by shaft weight) and the head weight (for which Swing weight is commonly used to judge).

If you want to feel the club in the backswing I imagine you want something like a D2 swing weight.

Actually, a lot of stock shafts - both steel and graphite - seem to be getting lighter and lighter. You could probably find several different ones to demon and try at any retail store.

I am in similar situation but my issue was tennis elbow constantly recurring. I needed to go to graphite for some additional comfort. Obviously, get fittied, there are quite a few options. I personally found the Srixon Z565 with the Miyazaki graphite (85 grams) to fit the bill for me.

Gotta throw out another option, Aerotech Steelfibers. My father has a set and I am amazed every time I pick them up how light they are.
