How many types of fuel injectors are there in a GM?
This injector family portrait includes four of the five popular GM fuel injectors. From left to right: original Bosch Jetronic EV1, the tall LS1 style followed by the early LS truck injector, and on the far right the late LS3 EV6 style.
Why aren’t GM injectors more popular?
These injectors are physically the largest and tallest of all the GM injectors. These units are becoming less popular now mainly because they don’t deliver the high flow rates now demanded by today’s more powerful engines.
What kind of connector does a GM injector use?
(Center) Unique within the GM LS style injectors is the early GM truck version that is just slightly taller than the later LS3 injector using the Mini-Delphi connector. This is the only injector that uses this electrical connector.
What are the specs of a Gen IV LS3 style injector?
We’ve listed their specs in a separate chart. Another subtle change that occurred with the Gen IV LS3 style injector is the lower O-ring diameter which increased from 0.540-inch to 0.565-inch. These larger O-rings are sometimes distinguished by color.
How do I know if my injector is high or low impedance?
How do I know if my injector is low impedance or high impedance? You can measure the resistance across the two electrical terminals of the injector. If the resistance is between 1.5 and 4.0 Ohm you have low impedance injectors. If the resistance is between 8 and 16 Ohm you have high impedance injectors.
Are stock LS injectors high or low impedance?
high-impedanceAll factory LS V8 engines use high-impedance injectors.
What is a high impedance injector?
High Impedance injectors usually measure 10-14 ohms. Low impedance injectors, on the other hand, use what's called a peak-and-hold driver. “With a really large injector and higher fuel pressure, more current allows the injector to open faster and more consistently.” he tells us.
Are Bosch injectors high impedance?
Genuine Bosch 36lb/hour Fuel Injectors In addition, these units are high-impedance. Despite the high flow rate, they are linear and controllable at low pulse widths. This allows you to use a larger injector than normally possible without hurting idle and low speed drivability.
What is considered high impedance?
High impedance is referred to as 25V, 70V, or 100V (often referred to as 70V). High impedance is ideal for longer cable runs, with more speakers per line. Speakers are low powered with adjustable power taps. It has high impedance outputs with fewer amplifiers required.
What is the difference between EV1 and EV6 injectors?
The EV6 fuel injectors replaced them in the next line of fuel injector evolution. The EV6 injector is nearly identical in height but the body of the fuel injector is narrower or “skinnier” when compared to the EV1 injector. The third style is the EV14 fuel injector.
What size are stock LS3 injectors?
The stock LS3 injectors are 42lb injectors and are more than adequate for about 500-525 rear wheel.
Are DeatschWerks injectors high impedance?
Matched set of 6 injectors 10000cc/min (high impedance) – DeatschWerks.
Are LS2 and LS3 injectors the same?
There are a couple things to keep in mind before you make a decision: - The LS2 and LS3 fuel rail are the exact same piece so you will not need the rail anyway.
Are Bosch 210 injectors high impedance?
Genuine, reliable, new Bosch Injectors. Excellent response characteristics. Robust Design. High Impedance.
How much HP will 36 lb injectors support?
575 horsepowerRated injector flow: 36 lb/hr @ 43 PSI. Supports up to 575 horsepower.
What is the difference between a high impedance and a low impedance fuel injector?
There are two main types of injectors: low impedance and high impedance. A low impedance injector will have a resistance of around 2.5 to 3 ohms, while a high impedance injector will fall somewhere around 12 ohms. Resistance can be measured with a multimeter across the injector's electric terminals.
What injectors are used in 2005 LS3?
Perhaps a bit earlier, around 2005, GM switched the passenger car injector style to the Gen IV, short LS3 style that uses the EV6 or USCAR connector. This is the shortest injector of all the factory squirters, but its size should not be confused with a lack of flow potential as these injectors can crank out the fuel.
Why are Bosch injectors less popular?
These units are becoming less popular now mainly because they don’t deliver the high flow rates now demanded by today’s more powerful engines. These Bosch injectors used a connector that is referred to by no less than three different aliases.
What is the name of the Bosch fuel injection system?
The earliest reference is the Jetronic –the Bosch name for its early fuel injection system. This connector evolved into the Minitimer that now morphed to EV1. Right away, this becomes mystifying with three different ways to describe this electrical connector.
Does GM carry injectors on trucks?
Unfortunately, GM didn’t carry this injector over to the trucks, choosing instead to go with an entirely different injector.
Do truck injectors need an adapter?
Since most aftermarket EFI systems target the more modern EV6 injectors, using the early truck injectors will often require an electrical adapter. (Left) This is the original Bosch Jetronic injector with its EV1 connector that is also called the Minitimer.
Why does my Cadillac Escalade have a leaky fuel injector?
Bad Fuel Injectors Diagnosis: Cadillac Escalade. Leaking fuel injectors are often caused by a bad a crack in their body. When this occurs they must be replaced. If the injectors are clogged you’ll need to have them cleaned by a professional.
Why does my Escalade smell like gas?
You will smell fuel on the dipstick. The Smell of Fuel – When your engine is getting too much fuel , your Escalade can’t burn it all. You’ll probably notice the smell of gas as you are driving locally. On the highway, there’ll probably be too much wind for you to catch it.
What happens if fuel injectors aren't working?
When the fuel injectors aren’t working properly it can’t do that and fuel mileage suffers. Knock/Detonation – Detonation can cause your Escalade’s engine to blow. This is certainly the worst case scenario. Don’t ignore an engine that isn’t running right.
What happens when a fuel injector leaks?
Thin Oil – When a fuel injector leaks, all of that fuel is not getting burned in the combustion chamber. Any gas that is not fired and sent out as exhaust ends up in the oil pan. When this happens it can decrease your Escalade’s engine lubrication to the point that it’ll lock up. You will smell fuel on the dipstick.
Why do injectors go bad?
There are two main ways that your injectors can go bad. The first is for them to become clogged, dirty, or unresponsive. When this happens not enough fuel enters into your Escalade’s combustion chamber. The other way is if the injectors are leaking. When they leak, they can really do some damage.
Why is it important to check fuel pressure at the rail before replacing injectors?
That’s why it’s important to check the fuel pressure at the rail before replacing injectors, otherwise you may end throwing good money after bad. If you do end up needing to replace the injectors, they are somewhat affordable.
What causes an engine to misfire?
Emissions Issues – When the fuel is not entering the combustion chamber in the right quantity, the engine may adjust the air/fuel mixture, which can lead to increased exhaust emissions. Loss of Power – Typically, as the engine RPM increases, you won’t be able to “feel” the engine misfire as much.

High Impedance Injectors
Guys, is there any downside to running High Impedance injectors? I know you can eliminate the resistor box and do it but is there any downside? Reason I ask is because I had bought Bosch 1600cc injectors and I got rid of them because I couldn't get them to idle. Would high impedance fix this, or would I still need the FIC Easy Tune? Thanks guys!
Can low impedence injectors perform in place of high impedence injectors?
Performance differences? Sure there are, without some modification low impedence injectors won't perform in the place of high impedence injectors, same goes for high impedence injectors in the place of low impedence injectors.
Can you put a low Z injector in a high Z car?
I think you can actually put a low Z injector in a car setup for high Z, but you'll eventually damage the drivers. Using a 50+ lb/hr high Z injector will probably give a bad idle as the low pulse width control is sucky.
