what fuel pump and injectors should i run on stock ka24de

by Gideon Bergstrom Published 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago

Of course, proper fueling is a big hurdle to get past, and you’ll need much larger injectors and a big fuel pump. If possible, ethanol fuel is highly recommended over pump gas for a KA24DET setup. Unfortunately, the stock bottom-end isn’t strong as some other Nissan engines, such as the RB, and can only hold up to about 350whp.

How much power can a stock KA24 hold?

Unfortunately, the stock bottom-end isn’t strong and can only hold up to about 350whp. If you’re looking to go for big power, you’ll need a forged rotating assembly. If you end up dumping that much money into a KA24, you might as well swap in a 1JZ/2JZ or RB engine which will make way more power while also being more reliable.

What kind of mods can you put on a kaka24de?

KA24DE Tuning Tips. Typical stage 2 mods often include: Fast road cam, high flow fuel injector, Ported and polished head, fuel pump upgrades. Typical stage 3 mods often include: Engine balancing, Competition cam, Internal engine upgrades (pistons/head/valves), Adding or upgrading forced induction (turbo/supercharger).

How much horsepower does a KA24DE engine have?

Although many people upgrade to the SR20DET engine, many stay with the KA24DE because of its larger displacement. A naturally aspirated built can reach up to 200whp (230bhp), but it isn’t cheap. This kind of build requires full bolt-on, ported and polished head, bigger cams, and possibly a higher compression ratio.

Can I add a turbo to my KA24DE?

The twin scroll turbo is the route to go if you are adding forced induction to the KA24DE. Clearance in the engine bay can be an issue with bottom mounted turbo manifolds, so give some thought to adjusting the floorpan or the downpipe to accommodate this. Power steering brackets can also get in the way and may need grinding back.

Can you run bigger fuel injectors on a stock car?

You can;t do a stock tune unless you can fool the ecu into thinking it is getting more or less air. If you throw in bigger injectors it will hold that injector open for the same amount of time as the smaller injectors and it will dump TONS of fuel in.

Do I need a bigger fuel pump for bigger injectors?

0:141:37How To Tell When You Need Bigger Injectors [HPA Q&A] - YouTubeYouTubeStart of suggested clipEnd of suggested clipIf our fuel pressure is dropping away that means that the fuel pump can't supply enough fuel to theMoreIf our fuel pressure is dropping away that means that the fuel pump can't supply enough fuel to the injectors. And. We can sort of mask. This by increasing our injector duty cycles.

How do I know what fuel injectors I need?

Fuel Injectors are sized by their flow rate. Flow rate is a measurement of how much fuel can be delivered over time. It is listed in pounds per hour (lbs./hr.) or cubic centimeters per minute (cc/min.). The right size injector can supply enough fuel under full load conditions at an 80% duty cycle.

How much power can a KA24DE make?

Turbocharging the KA24DE can produce great numbers if the tuning is right. It's easy to attain over 200rwhp with a basic turbo kit like the kind sold on ebay. Advanced tuning and internal engine modification has produced KA24 240SX's with 500+ horsepower.

Can I run bigger injectors without a tune?

In general, injectors need a tune. Otherwise, your ECU is trying to drive the new, bigger injectors using the duty cycle and dead times for the old, smaller injectors, which means too much gas potentially at the wrong time (i.e. - running rich and potentially missing).

What happens if my injectors are too big?

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that bigger fuel injectors equal more power, but unless your engine is set up to deal with the extra fuel, you'll be on a fast track to trouble. The excess fuel will flood the engine and it either won't run at all, or will be running too rich.

Will bigger injectors increase HP?

Larger throttle body and injectors A larger high-performance throttle body will deliver more horsepower. Depending on what type of engine you have, you can gain as much as 10-20 more horsepower and comparable torque.

Will bigger injectors hurt mpg?

In the end, do not upgrade to larger injectors in an attempt to get better fuel mileage, as new stock sized injectors will do the job if your current injectors are worn out. But at the same time, if you are looking for more power, do not be afraid to go to a larger injector because of losing fuel economy.

How much HP will 36 lb injectors support?

575 horsepowerRated injector flow: 36 lb/hr @ 43 PSI. Supports up to 575 horsepower.

What do I need to turbo my KA24DE?

This will need a MAF, oil feed and drain lines, injectors and and an ECU, but it does come with a manifold and an intercooler kit. On the whole, it's a great kit for the money.

Is the KA24DE a good engine?

With the large displacement providing the turbos with the capability to spool far quicker, the KA24DE's connecting rods and crankshaft are also quite strong. With proper tuning and a well-engineered turbo system, 300 horsepower can be achieved on the stock internals.

Is Ka better than SR?

The KA head flows better than the SR and is only limited by head studs (which ARP sells) and head gasket (which Cosworth is currently in development of).

Re: (-RJ-)

i was just saying that 550 seems like a big injector for a naturally aspirated ka.

Re: (bjohnson)

yeah.. its still NA KA24de, but considering that its always ran rich i didnt really care.. lol.. my cat is BRIGHT orange and slightly blue.. and its brand new... but i just got the new injectors on yesterday so obviously the previouse injectors did that...

Re: (-RJ-)

88 rx7 550cc's are top feed so you'll need a top feed fuel rail to make them fit. I got my top feed rail for my rx7 550ccs at projectnissan.com worked out great but you also need to get a nismo fuel pressure regulator since you can't run the stock one.

Re: (zerepdivad)

my car was already runnin rich when i bought it... had brand new ngk spark plugs in it and i took them out 5 days after and they had barely anything left... but im not going to do anything about it runnin rich untill i get the eletric fan to work...

How many valves does a KA24DE have?

The KA24DE has 4 valves per cylinder, against the 3 of it's SOHC brother.

What is the difference between a KA24DE and a KA24DE?

KA24DE has a higher 6900 redline* than the 1988 KA24E 6500rpm, with the main differences being that the KA24DE has a double overhead camshaft and other revision s including a better knock sensor, ...

How much horsepower does a piston have?

Pistons are good for power figures around 260hp but going beyond this it makes sense to uprate the pistons, and crankshaft. We've heard of some running power figures of 320hp on stock internals as they are so solid, but we would worry about reliability.

What is camshaft choice?

Camshaft choice is the thing that differentiates the power band, along with head work (gas flowing, porting and polishing).

Where are the dipsticks on a JDM engine?

The dipstick location is the best way to tell the engines apart, as JDM engine dipsticks were located in the center of the engine, and the Mexican engines has the dipstick located to the rear. Parts are not necessarily interchangeable between the two versions so please check carefully before ordering upgrades, particularly camshafts ...

Where were JDM engines made?

Some blocks were made in Mexico for models destined for the US market. Then JDM market car engines were built in Japan and there were significant differences between these, despite bearing the same engine code.

Is a crank engine bulletproof?

Piston and crank are forged, and pretty solid, as such the engine can take quite a bit of punishment. It is thought to be bulletproof, subject to proper servicing and in particular regular oil changes.

I am wanting to boost my KA. I want aprox 250-300 reliable hp to the rear wheels. Can this be done to a stock bottom end or do I need pistons? I really like the torque that the car makes and don't really want lag or a drop in power down low. I would like stockish power till about 3-3500 and then have the boost come on.

thisismatt

From what I've read 300 is more or less the most you'd want to run stock. There's a guy on zilvia selling a KA24E supercharger setup ;)

Icehouse

When I was into the s13 scene I had a buddy who had a stock KA24DE running 12psi, it put down a touch over 300 to the wheels. The head gasket only lasted a few weeks, it sure hauled ass though!!!! I'd think with the right build it would last a long time.

NorCalDime

Average: 300 rwhp to 350 rwhp, you have to start to expect a little more lag. This is about the perfect "street car" limit. No race gas, just good honest street car fun that is fully capable of bring home a 12 second timeslip on a good run.

DISLEXICDIME

sounds like my starion's boosted 2.6. it is a lot of fun at stock boost (7pounds) its pushing 233 pounds of torque and 188 horses i imagine a boosted ka would be about the same. but in a car 1000 pounds liter now that sounds like fun . i always figured the extra torque from the ka would give a stock sr a run for its money stop light to stop light

datzenmike

Could I ask something? Will a stock KA E accept any boost without changing the stock sensors and ECU? If it will, how high will it go before some form of extra fuel management is needed.

Guest DatsuNoob

I imagine you'd just have to change up to a high flow fuel rail, and bigger injectors, bigger MAF, and tinker with the ECU settings a bit. My buddy Matt had his uncle (mechanic) tune the stock computer on his Neon to dump more fuel on a N/A 2.0L with one of those Sunpro diagnostic computer controllers.
