If there are more buyers than sellers (more demand), buyers continue to bid better prices for the stocks to attract sellers to sell their stocks. On the flip side, a larger number of sellers than buyers (more supply) causes the supply to become larger than the demand, which causes the price of the stock to go down.

If there is a greater number of buyers than sellers (more demand), the buyers bid up the prices of the stocks to entice sellers to sell more. If there are more sellers than buyers, prices go down until they reach a level that entices buyers.
