Brambo New Member!

Hello, I am new to strat-talk. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of pickups a 2010 American standard stratocaster has. Thank you!

Boomstick Strat-Talk Member

They are definitely Alnico 5, staggered poles. Have the same imbalance issues that the Custom Shop Fat 50s do and aren't all that dissimilar (so not for me).

Wait! In those ones the staggering is better than fat 50s, moreover you can push up and down the poles as much as you desires since the magnets are loaded into a plastic bobbin, not directly in contact with the copper windings.

guitarman1984 Senior Stratmaster

Just wait some other comments.... but I believe those pickups are not mounted on fiber bobbins so you could push poles up and down at your own preference.

Alnico Vs are really good pick ups. A bit treble heavy, but thats only my personal opinion. The 2010 should also have the Delta-Tone system, which has a no load tone pot for the bridge pup.

Scarecrow937 Strat-Talker

I love the stock alnico 5s in my 2008 and dont ever plan on swapping them. Not quite as dark as the Fat 50s from what I hear. The alnico 5s seemed balanced just fine for me...
