The first CPU was purchased the month the i7-4790k was released and the second was on black friday in November. TL;DR version 1. How hot does a 4790k get with the stock cooler?
My 4790K stayed under 85°C with the stock cooler but that was running outside of a case. You don't have to worry about temperature with the stock cooler at stock clocks, Intel wouldn't have provided the cooler with the CPU if it wasn't capable of keeping it cool.

i usually get around 35C with it idle but i dont think ur temperatures are dangerously high, and this is with a stock cooler btw They aren't dangerous temps, but certainly seem abnormal. Maybe the cooler isn't seated well? 50C is too hot for an idle temp. Clean and apply new paste and reseat the cooler.

Every Chip is different and while some i5 4690K can run on 4.4Ghz no problem other i5-4690K could not. The simple method to overclock the system would be to simply disable all Turbo boost stuff in bios and increase the Multiplier of the CPU (should be on Auto or 35 atm).

For a 24/7 OC, I wouldn't take it over 85°C with everything, CPU, GPU, etc, loaded down.

Personal preference really, the CPU will shut itself down if it reaches a critical temp. I obey my 85C rule unless I'm feeling particularly crazy about hitting a cinebench score.

DO NOT run (with prime95, IBT, Linx) and it will be fine, unless you need to run those programs for something. Also your AMD CPU never heard of it 4690K,is it some knock off Chinese Cafe model .

Haswell CPUs often had bad TIM under the heatspreader and there could even be a gap.
