AFAIK exhaust is one of the only FBO mods you don't specifically need a tune for and if you already have a good dyno tune for intake or headers or whatever else you have, you should be fine to revert your exhaust to stock without any changes.

Do I need a tune up after intake and exhaust?

As for a tune up (what a shady shop calls replacing your plugs and charging you like $70) after an intake and exhaust, no you don't need it. As for fuel tuning, no you don't need it either unless you put in or modified something that requires for or could further benefit from it.

How much HP can a stock intake and exhaust make?

say the engine is capable of 100HP, with a stock intake and exhaust it may only actually make 90 usable HP, even though the potential is 100- if you FREE UP those other horses with a freer flowing intake and exhaust you may get 95HP.

How much drivetrain loss when adding an intake and exhaust?

ok you take a has 2.3 that makes 160 CHP and what 130 whp most cars have about 10 to 15% drivetrain loss. If you add a intake and exhaust to that car and lets say hte car now makes 140 whp the chp will be at 170 because the % of drive change loss will remain the same.

Why is there back pressure in my exhaust?

If the exhaust pipe is too small or the muffler has a lot of air resistance then this can cause back-pressure. High-performance exhaust systems use headers, big tail pipes and free-flowing mufflers to eliminate back-pressure in the exhaust system.

Can you pass inspection with a cat-back exhaust?

The CAT must be approved for sale and use in California and posses an Executive Order number issued by the California Air Resources Board. A vehicle will not pass the smog check without having the correct catalytic converter installed.

Can you pass smog test with aftermarket exhaust?

My understanding is that per the latest California smog laws, you can fail a visual inspection if your catback exhaust does not have the same diameter as the original stock exhaust. Aftermarket headers will definitely fail visual inspection, if they are visible without uninstalling any of the engine panels.

Does muffler delete pass inspection?

Absolutely not! A muffler delete won't pass a regular vehicle inspection – let alone one that focuses on the exhaust system. However, if you're curious if deleting a muffler will increase emissions – this is a stark no. All the muffler does is limit noise, and it doesn't have any smog reduction or emission equipment.

What would an exhaust system be inspected for?

During an exhaust inspection, all of the exhaust system's parts are visually inspected for any cracks or other damage. All of the clamps, mounts, and gaskets are also inspected.

Will exhaust system fail smog?

If the holes on a muffler were large enough to where fresh air would be vacuumed into a car's exhaust stream, the test results would be incorrect, and the smog machine may not even allow the smog inspection to begin or continue.

Can you pass inspection with aftermarket catalytic converter?

Install catalytic converters that are CARB approved and legal for sale and use in California. If an aftermarket catalytic converter does not comply with CARB labeling requirements, the vehicle will not pass a California smog inspection, and a smog certificate will not be issued.

Does straight pipe waste more gas?

Nevertheless, straight pipes are not an efficient way to make your car more fuel efficient. They will actually decrease the gas mileage of your vehicle by disturbing airflow and increasing turbulence in your engine bay. This may result in a loss of vehicle performance.

Will resonator delete pass inspection?

Q: Will the resonator delete pass inspection? Resonator delete does not entirely alter your vehicle's exhaust sound to the point that your car cannot pass inspection. Removing your vehicle's resonator will not affect its emission.

Is a Catback louder than a muffler delete?
