The tech titan has taken a beating lately, but this could be a blessing in disguise
Nvidia ( NVDA 1.72% ) stock has been a stellar performer on the market in 2021 as investors have applauded the tremendous growth in its revenue and earnings. But the stock short-circuited last week after it emerged that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is moving to block Nvidia's proposed $40 billion acquisition of Arm Holdings.
The bad news seems priced in already
Assuming the FTC's intervention is the final nail in the coffin for Nvidia's proposed takeover of Arm, the graphics specialist would stand to lose out on the licensing fees it would have earned from chipmakers across the globe that make chips based on Arm's designs.
Nvidia has a lot going for it
Nvidia's dominant position in the market for gaming graphics cards, where it holds more than 80% share, is a key driver of the company's rapid growth. Its gaming revenue jumped 42% year over year in Q3 to $3.22 billion and accounted for 45% of the top line.
