Yes ... Krylon and model car enamel paint. Just make sure you scuff it up really good first and then rub it down with acetone before you paint it.

Is Krylon Fusion good?

I've done a fair amount. Not as much as Karsten who did it as a business though. Krylon Fusion is good and a few other standard paints like Aervo and Rustuleum in my experience, but nothing has been as tough as Alumahyde II. All the stocks I've done look almost the same as the day they finished curing. It's very hard to scuff being basically colored epoxy unlike Krylon and the others that a quick rub on a table top can scuff them. This is OD green Alumahyde II done years back and put through lots of use. It takes longer to fully cure, but it's worth it in my opinion if you want a really tough stock finish.

Can you use Krylon Camo flats with clear coat?

I used to paint a lot of stocks back in my day. The Krylon Camo Flats are get as long as you prep the surface , prime well and use a compatible flat clear coat.

Can you use clear rubbing alcohol on plastic?

I always use alcohol on plastic myself. I just use plain old clear rubbing alcohol to clean a gun before re-blueing. Always works like a champ.

Can you spray paint spider webs?

After you flash off the final coat, you can let it cure, or spray on splatter paint for spider web accents. I've done 6 of these and they make a nice durable paint finish.

Is acetone good for plastic?

Well - acetone is a great solvent for degreasing metal but might be too aggressive on some plastics. Any chance the acetone attacked the stock and left it 'gooey?' Gotta be careful with it on certain plastics. If not that then I must say I am at a loss.

Can you use Rustoleum on plastic?

I've never had real good results with Rustoleum on plastic, but Brownell's Alumahyde II works great. Lightly sand surface, degrease with alcohol, then follow their instructional video. You basicaly mist on a coat, dry it off with a hairdryer to flash off the solvent, put on a light second coat, again use hairdryer to flash off, then a final cover coat.

How long does it take for paint to dry?

When they say it dries in 15 minutes they are deceiving you. The surface might dry that fast, but it still gassing out under what you feel on the outside layer. Most paints actually take a day or two to full gas out. Be patient, use lighter coats of both primer and paint after a thorough sanding and proper cleaning.

Can you use scotch pad on stocks?

On my stocks I used scotch pad with lots of rubbing until the entire sheen was gone. I then wiped it with alcohol as it dries quickly and I rubbed it again then final wiped with thinner (mineral spirits works too).

Can Krylon Fusion be used on Tikka?

I've had good luck with Krylon Fusion for a base on a synthetic Tikka stock. I used to auto body for a living. Your peeling problem could have been caused by the mineral spirits. It's an oil based solvent. I would use acetone the next time around.

Can you spray paint stock?

I roughed my stock up, wiped it with paint thinner, let dry then sprayed it with plastic primer. After all of that I spray painted it, and clear coated it. I never used a stencil, just one color, black.

Is Krylon camo paint good for axis stock?

Krylon camo/outdoors camo paint has been super durable for me on a painted axis stock, their primer too!

How to sand down synthetic stock?

Use 180-grit sandpaper and sand down the stock surface by hand. Many synthetic stocks have parting lines running down the length of the stock, sand them down until they are flush with the surface. When preparing your stock do not use a mechanical sander since you can easily damage your stock.

Spray an even, thin coat of epoxy-based primer onto the stock and let the primer dry. Repeat the process until you have applied three coats. Let dry for 24 hours.
