Why do M40 barrels have tooling marks in them?

Gary Schneider, maker of the spec barrel used on the M40A3 and M40A5 ships his barrels with the tooling marks in them. For a period of time the PWS left the marks to hold spray paint better when the rifles in the field.

Is the M40A1 still being built?

Our M40A1 is built to the USMC, Quantico - RTE/Precision Weapon Shop build procedure. The USMC stopped building M40A1 Rifles in 1999 but here at G.A. Precision we still build them to the same specs the PWS 2112 armorer did from 1980 to 1999.

What barrels can a M40A1 take?

The original M40A1 Marine Sniper Rifle stock was designed for a heavy barrel Remington 700 . It can be used for either short or long actions, as well as ADL (blind magazine), BDL (hinged floorplate), and most detachable box magazine systems. It will take any barrel contour up to a #8.

What is a molded in finish?

Molded in colors are the most durable finish we offer. With a molded finish, the color is impregnated into the gelcoat, or exterior surface layer of the stock. All of the molded-in finishes below should be considered utility-grade. Mold lines, sanding marks, fiberglass cloth and small imperfections may be visible.

Why are fiberglass stocks higher than hunting stocks?

These stocks typically have a more solid fiberglass filler material which requires slower inletting speeds and more inletting for stock options and accessories and are priced higher than the hunting stocks because of the increased CNC machine time. Again the base price includes the color and finish of your choice.

How much weight does a fiberglass recoil lug add?

It will add about 6 ounces of weight to the stock. It will be used for anything above a .300 win mag caliber.

Do tactical rifles have paint on them?
