Using a different home screen launcher will not only immediately make your phone look more like a stock device, but it will also make it react more like one, at least on the home screens.
Get a Stock-Like Theme
One thing Samsung has going for it is the option to theme the entire system—things that are generally untouchable without extensive modding on other phones are pretty easy to change on compatible phones (S6 and Note 5 series and later) thanks to Samsung’s theme library.
Try Substratum Themes on the Play Store
Alternatively, there’s a new and more advanced theme engine on the market: Substratum. It’s designed to work with a series of installed apps that modify the look of a phone’s core systems without using root. The $2 paid add-on, “ Sungstratum ” (get it?), enables the system to work with Samsung’s more customized ROMs.

While I’m no fan of it, I actually like the Bixby button found on the side of Galaxy phones because nowadays it’s extremely customizable—just head to Settings, Advanced Features, and then Bixby Key.
Tweak the lock screen and navigation bar
Finally, I changed a few other minor settings for a more stock-like experience. First and foremost, lock screen notifications. Samsung hides your notifications behind an extra tap, which drives me absolutely bonkers, but you can turn this off by heading to Settings, Lock Screen, and then to Notifications, and changing the View Style to Details.
Customize the Quick Settings panel
When you drag your finger down from the top of the screen, you’ll see your notifications along with a few “quick settings” along the top. Drag down again, and you’ll get the full Quick Settings panel, which allows you to customize your screen’s brightness, toggle certain settings on and off, and more.
Fire Tablet Disadvantages
At first glance, the operating system running Amazon Fire devices appears as though it is Android. 2. Install Fire Toolbox
The first thing you need to do is download and install “Fire Toolbox” on your Windows PC. The tool can be found on XDA Developers alongside copious documentation. We recommend that you read through the instructions and FAQ found on XDA.
3. Plug Your Fire Tablet into Your PC
When Fire Toolbox relaunches, it will report the following: “No device was detected. Please plug in a Fire Tablet.”
How to Use Fire Toolbox
Now that you’ve plugged your Fire tablet into your PC, you will see the Fire Toolbox interface. It will ask if you have used Fire Toolbox before. If you haven’t, we would recommend clicking “No, I’m a new user”. This will provide a brief walkthrough on how to use the software.
Install Google Play and Google Services
As we mentioned above, Fire tablets do not have the Google Play Store. This forces users to install apps from Amazon’s App Store, which has a paltry selection of apps in comparison. To install the Google Play Store, click on the button labelled “Google Services.” Doing so will provide a description of what will happen to your Fire tablet.
