Can I make a 1m buffer solution?

from "Stock solution (0.1 M)" you can't make 1 M buffer solution. I renounce to downvote that incorrect reply. *) NB: from other RG-members to which I am bound I often am informed that their replies or questions are downvoted with obviously perfidious motives. I can't add any more specific to this since downvotes are anonymous.

It will be necessary to clarify whether buffer pH = 8.5 is meant at a temperature of 20 or 37oC. Since the required pH is at the lower end of the buffer range this system, adjusting the pH of 0.1M NaH (CO3)2 solution with Na2CO3 solution will probably be more accurate. Only a very small amount of Na2CO3 will be needed.

Why are buffers important?

Hence, buffers considerably contribute to variations in the outcome, and ultimately the success or failure, of studies. Therefore, understanding buffers and error-free calculation of buffers is essential to reduce variability and undesired interactions for reliable research.

Why is phosphate buffered saline used?

Phosphate buffered saline has many uses because it's isotonic and non-toxic to most cells. It can be used to dilute substances and it's often used to rinse containers of cells. PBS can be used as a dilutent in various methods to dry biomolecules because the water molecules within it will be structured around the substance—protein, for example.

Can you make a 10x PBS solution?

You can prepare PBS in several ways. There are multiple formulas. Some of them don't contain potassium, while others contain calcium or magnesium . This recipe is relatively easy. It's for 10X PBS stock solution (0.1M). However, you can also make a 1X stock solution, or begin with this 10X recipe and dilute it to 1X.
