Getting started

What do you need to make custom liveries? Well, you need image manipulation or drawing software like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. However, since these are quite heavily priced, there are some decent free alternatives, like Inkscape and Gimp but I can’t attest to their usefulness since I don’t use these programs myself.

Creating the car

In order to create a custom design, first you need to create the in-game entity which you’ll later be able to customize.

Creating the design

Now, you need to open the ‘EXT_Skin.psd’-file from the template-directory you’ve just downloaded from here. You can find each car in its corresponding folder, divided by racing category (GT3, GT4, CUP and ST).

Making variants of your livery

If you chose to use an existing ‘skinTemplateValue’ you can easily make variants to your livery. For instance, in the orange/black with white trim lambo above, I only added the orange bits (and a little bit of white) myself. The rest is based on the Lamborghini’s second template design (skinTemplateKey 101), as can be seen below:

Changing material types

Another thing you can do is set custom material types. The ‘decals.json’ and ‘sponsors.json’ have four values you can change, ranging from 0 – 1 (single decimal). These values are:

Sharing and downloading custom liveries

Unfortunately (but for understandable reasons, i.e. legal issues) other people wont be able to see your liveries online.

Questions and help

What do you do when you play ACC?

When playing ACC, the first thing they do is turn off TC and complain about others using the system. Don’t be that person. GT3 cars are designed to run with traction control on, they use it in real life as well. The power delivery is not intended to be used without traction control.

How to calculate fuel needed for a race?

Fuel: you need to put in enough fuel for the race. If you want to do an easy calculation, you simply multiply the race time in minutes by 2,2. This will be a ball-park estimate. If you want to properly calculate the fuel you need for any race, you can use one of the widely available fuel calculators.

How many stars do you get for completing one clean lap?

You can get one star for completing one clean lap. Sounds easy enough, but you also need to maintain a certain pace for it to count. Two stars for two subsequent clean laps, and three stars for four subsequent clean laps. This is a good way to learn the tracks and the cars behaviour.

When you are just starting out, do you need to setup?

When you are just starting out, you don’t need to bother with setup. You need to focus on driving cleanly, hitting your brake markers, etc. Just take the safe (or, if you are daring, the aggressive) pre-set setup and hit the track. Now, there are a few things you do need to keep in mind.

Is ACC a simulation?

Simulation: ACC is a deep simulation. It’s not a racing game, it’s a racing simulation. Don’t call it a game unless you want to have hordes of angry simracers breathing down your neck. It being a simulation, you need to treat the car you’re driving like you’d be driving a real car on a real track.

How to calculate the accumulation distribution line?

First, calculate the Money Flow Multiplier. Second, multiply this value by volume to find the Money Flow Volume. Third, create a running total of Money Flow Volume to form the Accumulation Distribution Line ( ADL).

What is accumulation distribution?

The Accumulation Distribution Line is a cumulative measure of each period's volume flow, or money flow. A high positive multiplier combined with high volume shows strong buying pressure that pushes the indicator higher. Conversely, a low negative number combined with high volume reflects strong selling pressure that pushes the indicator lower. Money Flow Volume accumulates to form a line that either confirms or contradicts the underlying price trend. In this regard, the indicator is used to either reinforce the underlying trend or cast doubts on its sustainability. An uptrend in prices with a downtrend in the Accumulation Distribution Line suggests underlying selling pressure (distribution) that could foreshadow a bearish reversal on the price chart. A downtrend in prices with an uptrend in the Accumulation Distribution Line indicate underlying buying pressure (accumulation) that could foreshadow a bullish reversal in prices.

Why is accumulation distribution line important?

Sometimes the Accumulation Distribution Line simply doesn't work. This is why it is vitally important to use the Accumulation Distribution Line, and all indicators for that matter, in conjunction with price/trend analysis and/or other indicators.
