Does the LS2 intake make more power than the stock?
The stock LS2 intake did not flow as well as other manifolds. We recommend an Aftermarket Intake. The rectangle port intakes flowed better than the LS2. But, an aftermarket intake can still make more power. Just make sure to match the intake port shape on the heads.
What do you need to know about LS2 car engines?
[Every engine spec you’ll need for an LS2 car project can be found here: LS2 Car Engine Specs: Performance, Bore & Stroke, Cylinder Heads, Cam Specs & More.] At first glance, the LS2 car engine looks similar to other engines. The easiest way to tell them apart is to check the 8th digit of the VIN code.
How much more compression on LS2's?
The LS2 has cathedral port cylinder heads which can be CNC ported for more airflow. The heads can be milled for more compression. However, compression on these engines is already in the high 10:1 range. You don't want to go much higher when running pump gas.
How much HP can the LS6 crank hold?
The pistons in the LS6 were not designed to take any boost so it's longevity will be a crap shoot if you ask me. Anything over 600 and you are really asking for trouble. The rod bolts and the pistons are definitely the weak links. The crank will hold up to 1000hp supposedly.

How much power can an LS2 block take?
Registered. The LS2 block-can it handle 25-28 psi, max power limited to 1100 rwhp ( YSi ).
How much power can a LS2 handle with stock internals?
Registered. The stock SL2 produces 400 h.p. and 400 ft. - lbs. of torque at 4,400 rpm.
How much HP does a stock LS2 make?
400 hpDelivered from the factory in the base C6 Corvette, SSR, GTO, or as a crate engine from GM Performance Parts, the LS2 delivers an honest 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
How much boost can a LS2 handle?
6.35psi. 6.4 and it will explode.
How much boost can a stock 6.0 LS handle?
If you double this atmospheric pressure (by supplying boost from a turbo or blower), you can theoretically double the power output. On our 529hp 6.0L, this meant we could generate as much as 1,058 hp at 14.5 psi of boost, if everything went according to the formula (and the engine survived).
Is the LS2 a good engine?
The LS2 also has the convenience of being one of the most adaptable engines, with the ability to fit LS1, LS6, LS3, and L92 cylinder heads. In summary, the LS2 is clearly the better all-around package from the factory.
How much horsepower does a 6.0 LS2 have?

Is the LS2 a small block?
The LS2 is a Gen. 4, 6.0L, aluminum small block engine.
Can you put LS3 heads on a LS2?
yep. LS1, LS2, L98, L76, LS9, LS3, LS7 heads all same bolt pattern, same exhaust header bolt pattern and fit the same blocks... Except the issue is valve clearance.
Can you supercharge a LS2?
With the coolest charge air temperatures and lowest parasitic load in the industry, this ProCharger supercharger system produces over 600 horsepower on stock LS2 motors with only 6 psi of intercooled boost.
What LS is best for boost?
If you're planning on boosting your project the 4.8L truck engine will be perfect for you. The 4.8L can take insane amounts of boost completely stock and will really perform well. If you don't want a barebones 5.3L or 4.8L you could always step up to a 6.2L truck block which is based on the LS3 engine.
How much HP can a stock LS handle?
about 900 hpThe stock crankshaft can handle about 900 hp and 7,000 rpm (for a limited time). A Forged Crankshaft upgrade will add strength to the bottom end. Stroker cranks will also add extra displacement. If rods and pistons are replaced, it makes sense to upgrade the crank at the same time.
LS2 block limits
Can anyone tell me how much power a factory aluminum LS2 block will take safely and reliably? i want to put one in my daily driver and would like to have around 700 horse. I'm going to replace the internals, but do you think that the block is strong enough? i don't really want to drop a ton on an aftermarket aluminum case if i don't have to.

How much horsepower can a crankshaft handle?
If you're getting forged pistons, upgrade to Forged Connecting Rods at the same time. Even though it’s cast, the crankshaft can handle about 900 hp. and 7,000 rpm (for a limited time). A broken crankshaft is bad news.
What pistons are stronger than Gen 3?
When stroking, choose a piston with minimal skirt taper. This prevents the piston from rocking at BDC and scraping up the skirts. Gen. 4 rods are stronger than the Gen. 3's and have full floating pins. They can handle about 800 hp. and 6,500 rpm in boosted applications.
What valves are used for high rpm?
The L76, L98, and L77 heads have rectangle intake ports, like the LS3/L92 heads. Light weight, hollow stem in take valves from the LS3 drop right in for high rpm use.
What is a 6.0L engine?
The aluminum block, 6.0L engines are light and durable, with many options for increasing power. On a stock engine, the following upgrades can improve performance and fuel economy: A Cold Air Intake Kit. Headers.
Does the LS2 intake flow?

Do LS engines need cam swaps?
LS engines respond well to Cam Swaps. In addition to valve springs and rockers, the cam needs to match the compression, torque converter, rear-end gears, etc. Keep in mind, piston-to-valve clearance is tight with cams over 230° duration @ 0.050 in.
Can LS2 intake valves be CNC ported?
The LS2 has cathedral port cylinder heads which can be CNC ported for more airflow. The heads can be milled for more compression. However, compression on these engines is already in the high 10:1 range. You don't want to go much higher when running pump gas. For high rpm engines (7,000+), LS3 intake valves are lighter and can be cut to fit.
How long is a K1 crank?
The crank is a forged K1 unit with a 3.900-inch stroke. That's 0.278 of an inch longer than the 3.622-inch stock stroke, but still shorter than many engine builders will use because Harrell says the shorter stroke creates a broader powerband.
Is LS block strong?
The LS block is already strong, and choosing one cast in iron helps even more, but it still has its limits. That said, the old-school method of adding a block filler is hard to beat, so that's one of the first steps when making and OEM block withstand big power.
