How much power does a BorgWarner power stroke have?

With its highly efficient, high volume common-rail injection system, nearly 600rwhp can be squeezed through the 6.4L Power Stroke’s factory BorgWarner compound turbo arrangement with no power adder other than custom tuning. At this power level, more than 50 psi worth of boost is on tap and drive pressure is beginning to creep up.

How much boost can a turbo charger hold?

Either charger can hold up to 30-35 psi of boost for a while, but 40 psi or more is asking a lot for a turbo that was originally intended to see a maximum of 17 to 23 psi.

How much power can you get out of a Cummins he341cw?

Thanks to the common-rail system’s fueling potential (and the airflow of the 24-valve head), you can still squeeze 450rwhp out of the HE341CW, but it’s nowhere near as durable as the HX35 that preceded it. The last of the fixed geometry turbos found on the Cummins is the Holset HE351CW, and it’s pretty darn tough.

How much boost can a 7.3 handle?

How do you get 500hp out of a 7.3 Powerstroke?

Aside from adding a chip, a considerable up-sizing of the fuel injectors is mandatory to get any kind of measurable horsepower out of a 7.3L Power Stroke. For us, the only option is to upgrade to a set of hybrid injectors, and specifically the 238cc version for 500hp goals.

How much HP can a stock 7.3 Transmission handle?

As long as the 7.3L Power Stroke goes unmodified, the factory E4OD will generally live a while. Although, it can still be killed at the stock 210 hp and 425 lb-ft level with heavy abuse.

How much horsepower can you get out of a 7.3 L diesel?

7.3 Turbodiesel Injectors The stock injectors typically max out their fuel flow in the 325-375 horsepower range. You can hit those numbers pretty quickly with an aggressive tune and some basic bolt-ons. Anything much above that ballpark and 7.3 Power Stroke injector upgrades become a must.

What years are Ford diesel engines to avoid?

The 2003-2007 Ford Super Duty 6.0L may be the worst diesel truck of all time. The 6.0L Powerstroke is infamous. The engine is so bad that Ford and Powerstroke parent company Navistar were engaged in a serious legal battle.

How much HP can a 7.3 Gas handle?

Ford's New 7.3-L Gas V8 Can Be Tuned to 600 HP and Fit in a Fox-Body Mustang.

How much HP can a 7.3 Godzilla handle?

Ford's 7.3 Godzilla V-8 Can Make 1450 HP With a Supercharger.

Is the 7.3 Godzilla a big block?

The 7.3L Godzilla engine is a big-block V8 launched by Ford in 2020, as a replacement for the 6.8 Triton V10. The 7.3 engine is offered as an upgrade to the standard 6.2L “Boss” engine in F-250 and F-350 models. Additionally it is the base engine for the F-450 to F-600 models as well as the E-350.

Can you bulletproof a 7.3 Powerstroke?

The 7.3L Powerstroke is considered by many to be indestructible! Even as bulletproof as 7.3L can be, lack of proper maintenance and stupid mistakes can be the undoing of this of this endurance diesel engine platform.

What is the highest hp 7.3 Powerstroke?

2,180HP and 2,821 LB-FT With the aforementioned 15mm P-pump and the 4.4-inch turbo bolted in place, the engine belted out 2,180 hp (at 4,600 rpm) and 2,821 lb-ft of torque. As far as publicly release numbers are concerned, this makes their engine the most powerful 7.3L on record.

What is the most horsepower a 7.3 Powerstroke?

2180 hp and 2821 LB-FT of Torque.

Walk Before You Run: Stage One

Because the HEUI injection system is controlled by a computer, there is some extra power which can be unlocked with just a few simple mods. Grouped together I considered these “Stage One,” and the name of the game is airflow in and out.

Stage Two: Ford Blue

Once the basics are done with the 7.3, you’ll have a truck which can tow all day long, get great fuel mileage, and still be able to drive to the moon and back a couple of times before needing an overhaul, but your horsepower number will be around the mid 300’s at the wheels, which is nothing to write home about.

HEUI Injector Tech

When it’s time to shop for 7.3 injectors, you might be a bit confused if you’re accustomed to looking at common rail injector specs, since there are a ton of numbers thrown around. Typically, a HEUI injector will be classified by two different numbers, and we’ll use the Full Force Stage 3 Hybrid 205/30 injector as an example.

Point of No Return

On a 7.3, fuel enters the cylinder head at around 60psi, but the rail is a dead-head design which means once fuel flows in, it stays there until its used by the injectors.

A Word on Stock Turbo Failure

In most stock turbo applications, drive pressure will become a problem long before boost pressure does. When drive pressure is considerably higher than boost pressure (such as a 2:1 ratio), the thrust bearing is forced to absorb the pressure difference. Although the stock turbo may only be making 40 psi of boost, it could be seeing 85 psi of drive.

Power Stroke

Thanks to being wastegated (bleeding off potentially harmful, excess drive pressure), the turbo used on ’99.5-’03 7.3L Super Duty engines, the Garrett GTP38, is capable of surviving slightly more horsepower than the non-wastegated unit found on ’94.5-’97 mills (the Garrett TP38).

Cummins

The HX35 is tough as nails. It can handle twice the boost it was intended to make from the factory and then some, long-term. It’s also been used as the high-pressure (manifold) charger in various compound turbo arrangements over the years. Simply put, it can handle plenty of abuse (40 psi of boost and high drive).

Duramax

Equipped with a fixed geometry turbo, the valley-located charger used on the first-generation (LB7) 6.6L Duramax was manufactured by IHI. Called the RHG6, it sports a 60mm compressor wheel (inducer), a 68mm turbine wheel (exducer) and features a wastegate.

Can you get the same piston clearances from forged pistons?

It's true you can get the same piston to cylinder clearances from forged vs. hypereutectic pistons, but only once the engines are at operating temperatures. When they are cold, forged pistons still usually slap, burn oil, and wear out piston rings prematurely.

Is a hypereutectic piston stronger than a cast aluminum piston?

Hypereutectic pistons are stronger than more common cast aluminum pistons and used in many high performance applications. They are not as strong as forged pistons, but are much lower cost due to being cast.
