How much can I Lift my Truck with the torsion keys?
“By adjusting the torsion keys, you can lift your truck up to 1.5 inches, which is what I recommend. You can accomplish it with ease using air shocks. If you get too crazy and try increasing it beyond 2 inches, the suspension geometry will be out of whack and you won’t be able to drive comfortably.”
What happens if you adjust the torsion bars?
“As for adjusting the torsion bars, it’s going to ride rougher. You’ll wear out the front CVs faster, and you may lose some track width the higher you go. Bigger tires also mean more wear and tear on suspension components, combined with slower acceleration and worse MPG.
How much lift from stock key to cross member?
When I say contacting the cross member, I mean the the stock key tops out touching the top of the U-channel when cranked to gain the 1 inch of lift, when the aftermarket key is installed in the same position as an unadjusted stock key the re-indexed hole provided approximately 2 1/4 inches of lift and I adjusted the bolt to gain another 1/4 inc...
Why are after market keys so hard to load?
That's why it takes so much extra effort to load the after market keys, because they are putting more rotational force on the torsion bar, and it's also why they give you a shorter bolt with the kit so you can't adjust them beyond their limits.
How much lift can you get out of stock torsion keys?
The general consensus is that you can get 1.5" through the torsion bars lift with stock keys safely on a stock truck. Sometimes your stock keys aren't indexed enough to give you the amount of lift you would like before you run out of adjusting bolt so an aftermarket key, which has more indexing, will get your front end higher. That being said, all aftermarket keys are not created equal and some are more indexed than others.
Is it OK to tighten torsion bars?
The torsion bars are what they are. You can't change how strong they are or how stiff they are. They're already holding up the weight of the front end of your truck as it sits right now. If you "tighten" them, as you said, all you will do is raise the height of the front end.
How do I make my torsion bar suspension ride better?
Ride height, and the associated suspension properties, can be altered simply by turning each side's torsion-bar adjuster bolt. In Chrysler suspension systems, turning the bolt clockwise will increase ride height, while counterclockwise rotation will lower ride height.

What is a torsion key kit?
IMHO, torsion key kits are nothing more than money grab some greedy person designed to dupe millions of dollars from truck owners. All they do is change the clock position of the torsion bar, which is the exact same thing you do by adjusting the original keys with the adjuster bolt. Who really cares where the key sits on the adjuster bolt? The stock set up can turn enough to bottom out suspension travel just as easily as a leveling key set does. Huge racket. Huge waste of money, time, and patience.
