New VXL brushless motor for Rustler -- which pinion?
I noticed the brushed motor in my Traxxas Rustler was getting tired so I just ordered a Traxxas VXL brushless motor and ESC. I'm guessing the stock pinion will draw too much current and I'll be doing wheelies. I'd like to run the power system very conservatively so the gears will have a long happy life.

I know this is a very old post just thought I would chime in for any future readers. I have a stock Rustler VXL and the stock gearing is 28/83 which runs on a 7 cell NiMH 8.4V 3000mAh. This is a great setup for bashing. My first run with the stock rustler vxl was in pouring icy rain and it was a beast out of the box.
